Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team access places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
