19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.
It is his initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of that year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.
The player's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.
However the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an better service.
He came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.
Both players traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued 4 early-game break points in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
