Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking official said the attack made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
